The Deceived
(Book One: The Three Sisters Trilogy) by Courage Knight
Danielle lives in the secluded Maine Woods, and one snowy morning she finds herself following an unfamiliar hiker near where she lives. It was barely half a mile across the ice, and then half an acre to the
cabin. Danni grabbed the sled from the hook on the back of the privy, and
quickly snapped the ganglines onto the bridle. Whistling through her teeth,
she waited less than a minute before Sultan and Duke came bounding out
of their snug dog houses, eager to run with her. Their eagerness made
it difficult to get them into their harnesses, and she spoke sharply to
them. Ears down, their enthusiasm dampened, they wilted obediently.
Danni ruffled their ears. "I'm sorry, boys. But we've got us a dumb
ox to rescue. Hike! Hike!"
The Malamute-cross mongrels bolted, tails high, tongues already hanging
out the side of their mouths in big, doggy grins. Danni caught the sled
and hopped on the runners, tucking the drag brake out of the way until
she had need of it.
The ice was getting thin. Another day or two and she wouldn't be able
to cross it at all, at least, not until the remainder of the ice melted
and she could get the boat out of dry dock. Damn! If the weather didn't
cooperate, she could get stuck with the stupid flatlander for weeks!

Nola by Carolyn Faulkner
Nola clung to
the edge of the bed, as far away from her new husband as she could possibly
manage to get without ending up on the floor – not that she objected
to sleeping on the floor, but she’d already tried that and had
only managed to earn herself another of his monumental spankings instead
of any sort of freedom from his nightly pawing of her person.
Her bottom was still throbbing from the one he’d given her this
morning for resisting his advances. She snorted softly to herself in
her mind. It wasn’t as if she’d planted a fist in his face
and run out. He was too damned big for that and easily managed to subdue
her embarrassingly feeble attempts to escape, growling in that horribly
low, almost animalistic way of his, “Didn’t I tell you to
stay put, little lady?”
If there was anything she hated more than the sarcastic way in which
he said those last two words, Nola didn’t know what it was. But
then he reminded her, rudely: being spanked. She was twenty one years
old, long in the tooth to get married by everyone’s standards
but her own, and much too old to be put over anyone’s lap for
a paddling.

Nosy by Nature by Page Tyler
Closing the door that led out to the garage, she turned and walked back
into the kitchen, rubbing her bottom as she went. Though it didn’t
throb as much as it had right after her husband had given her that spanking,
her bottom still stung fiercely. Her gaze going to the kitchen table,
she saw that the hairbrush was still where Zak had left it, and was
just about to pick it up so that she could bring it back up to the bedroom
when she saw her new neighbors through the window.
The hairbrush forgotten for the moment, Daphne edged closer to the kitchen
window, watching the couple for a moment. Though they were clearly the
people in the photograph she’d seen, the woman’s curly hair
was now shoulder-length and blond, while the man no longer wore a beard
and mustache.
The urge to know more about the couple was suddenly too much, and before
Daphne even realized what she was doing, she was out the door and walking
toward their house. Zak said he didn’t want her snooping, she
reasoned. He didn’t say anything about her inviting their new
neighbors over to dinner. Besides, it wasn’t really snooping,
she told herself. Well, okay, maybe it was, she supposed, but it was
authorized snooping. And Zak couldn’t say anything about her being
social.

A Shadow In the Water by April Hill
I didn’t murder Gabriel Tannhauser although I will admit to
having fantasized about it once or twice. Okay, so maybe more than once
or twice. There were months when I whiled away quite a number of languid afternoons
plotting various grisly scenarios in which Gabe got his just desserts, but hey! I wasn't alone.
So, I was a bit put out when the LAPD showed up again later that morning, suggesting that I
might be involved in Gabe’s demise. I explained patiently to the cops that the Hollywood art world–on
whose glittering periphery
we all live–was positively INFESTED with women who’d jump
at the chance to disembowel Mr. Tannhauser with rusty spoons or back
over him with their cute little red or green Mini-Coopers.
A lot of
these women are not flesh and blood women at all, of course, but surgically
altered and inflated starlets, along with a number of models of the
"art" variety, all of whom used to wind their way in and out
of Gabe’s photo studio like an endless line of grease-eating ants.
The fact was, that in Gabe's world, where sleaze balls are pretty standard
issue, Gabe was a world-class sleaze ball. But I didn’t kill him–Girl
Scouts' honor, and even if I had wanted to, I’d have been at the
tail end of a VERY long line.

Spanking Day by Jean Gorski
“You will spend the rest of the day making them all gleam,”
he said.
“I would never have enough time, no matter how I tried,” she
wailed.
“I will have plenty of time, though, to make sure that you try your
best.”
“What do you mean?” she asked, her voice quavering.
“You’ll find out,” he told her, as he cleared a chair
by sweeping off his books (the ones he had been planning to put back on
the shelves for the past six months). He pushed up the sleeves of his
white silk shirt in a theatrically threatening gesture that revealed the
muscular arms beneath. Then he dragged her towards him as he threw himself
into the seat.
Too stunned at first to resist, she started to struggle desperately as
he pulled her over his knee and lifted her skirt, to reveal the white
linen shift beneath. Which would not have been white, as she suddenly
realized, but rather a dismal gray, if she had been washing it herself.
He had little time to admire the garment, though, before he pulled it
to her waist.
Now he was staring right down at her creamy white backside, which no man
had seen before. Mercifully, she had little time to be embarrassed, before
shame gave way to the sudden stab of stinging pain across her right buttock
cheek…immediately followed by an identical flash across the left.
The smarting grew to a burning heat and then a blazing fire, as his long,
strong fingers kept striking the same spot on either side, with unerring
accuracy.
